Geography & Rules

World

Two Worlds · One Lake

From prairie blacktop to a black lake under everything.

Two worlds. Two portals. One hidden lake.

Two Worlds map — Surface World above, Hidden World below, connected by the Thin Blue Line

SURFACE GEOGRAPHY · WEST TO EAST
The Bakken → Pick City → Garrison Dam → Lake Sakakawea → Riverdale → Tappen → Lake George.

PORTALS
Lake George and the Lake Sakakawea / Garrison Dam area. The portals connect at the deepest points of the two bodies of water.

HIDDEN WORLD
Lake Tappen is Black Lake.

The Two Worlds

One world drives boats and pays for gas. The other refines pressure into fuel — and sometimes into disaster.

Surface World

Bismarck · Tappen · Lake George · Sakakawea · Garrison Dam · Riverdale · Pick City · the Bakken

The Bakken

The pressure origin, at the far west of the surface-world line. Oil, rigs, danger, extraction, and the accident that creates the pressure bloom.

Pick City

Surface-world lake town just west of the Garrison Dam portal. Where the weekend starts.

Garrison Dam

Massive concrete on the Missouri. Symbol of pressure under control — and one of the two portal points into the hidden world.

Lake Sakakawea

The big-water portal stretching east of the dam. CJ's lake world. The other side of the Garrison Dam portal.

Riverdale

The town that holds the dam. Surface-world anchor between Pick City and Sakakawea.

Tappen

The folklore center east of the lakes. 'Make it happen in Tappen.' The surface-world myth point closest to Lake Tappen.

Lake George

The quiet portal east of Tappen. Deep, old, salty, protected, and central to the future. George is the musical keeper of this place: porch light, fiddle, accordion, coffee, shoreline humor, and the kind of restraint that protects a future before the world is ready for it.

Bismarck

The normal-world center. Work, bills, rehearsal, rent, responsibility — the place where the story pretends to be normal.

Hidden World

Lake Tappen · Calm Wells · Big K's refining · pressure bloom · the thin blue line

Lake Tappen / Black Lake

The hidden black lake in a parallel world, stretching mythically from Tappen to the Bakken. Calm refines crude into clean boat gas. Fear floods the market.

Calm Wells

A future-safe way to draw boat gas from Lake Tappen without forcing Big K to carry every red can himself. Calm Wells only work when the lake and Big K are emotionally stable.

Big K's Refining

An emotional process. Calm touch fills the red can. Panic causes the pressure bloom. Lake Tappen is both his prison and his power.

Black Lake Ranch

A fictional ranch inspired by real North Dakota stewardship values. Legacy, conservation, restraint, good ground.

The Thin Blue Line

A high-strength fiber connection — a safe pressure path between worlds. The future of safe energy without explosions.

A Better Way Forward

The future-hope idea underneath the musical. The natural result of the thesis: pressure does not have to explode. With a healthier relationship to pressure, the same force that destroyed Kit becomes useful power.

The Portals

Lake George and the Lake Sakakawea / Garrison Dam area are the known portal points between the surface world and Lake Tappen.

Lake George Portal

The quiet portal. Deep, old, salty, protected, and central to the future. The people around it keep the secret because not every miracle should be exposed too early. George is the musical keeper of this place: porch light, fiddle, accordion, coffee, shoreline humor, and the kind of restraint that protects a future before the world is ready for it.

Lake Sakakawea / Garrison Dam Portal

Big water, dam-scale pressure, CJ's lake world, and the symbol of pressure under control.

The Rules of Lake Tappen
RULE 01

Calm refines.

RULE 02

Fear floods.

RULE 03

Boat gas rises.

RULE 04

Pressure remembers.

RULE 05

Secrets protect until people are ready.

RULE 06

The miracle cannot be owned without breaking it.

A Better Way Forward

The musical's underlying hope is simple: pressure does not have to explode. With a healthier relationship to pressure — and friends willing to carry one handle — the same force that broke Kit becomes useful power.
